Wire Rope Corporation of America (WRCA) has extended its range of rotation resistant wire ropes with the launch of the Flex-X 35.

Designed specifically for tower cranes and other long-fall applications, Flex-X 35 wire rope has been engineered to have a strength-to-diameter ratio that is higher than most six-strand ropes when using the required design factors, said WRCA. Even with the standard 5.0 design factor for rotation resistant ropes, Flex-X 35 has a lifting capacity that is greater than six-strand XIP ropes of the same diameter that use a 3.5 design factor.

Flex-X 35 wire rope also has been designed to minimise load-induced torque and rotation of the rope.

WRCA claims that the rope’s multi-strand design combined with compacted strands and lang lay construction minimise wear, and so extend service life of not only the rope, but also sheaves and drums. Internally, enhanced surfaces of the compacted strands help minimise strand-to-strand nicking between strand layers.
