It has also launched a luffing-jib crane, the STL 230, with a maximum capacity of 18t, and can lift 2t at maximum radius of 55m. Dealer London Tower Cranes ordered 10 units in November. The first two units of the STL 230 are expected to arrive in February and will be installed tp 78m cabin height on job sites in London.
Three units of another crane launched last year, the STT 553, the company’s biggest, are currently working in Europe. The crane has a maximum capacity of 24t, or 4t at 80m jib-end. One is working in Lapland, in Finland, one at Finland’s Helsinki Airport, and one in Ghent, Belgium.
Terex Comedil has also launched a new flat-top CTT 231 tower. The crane can lift a load of 2.1t at 70m jib-end. The crane has a new simplified erection process, new touchscreen electronic display, new control system and new safety rails and non-slip walkways.
Comedil launched the crane at a customer event in 2007 at its Fontanafredda, Italy headquarters, where it also opened a new administration building. A new spare parts and logistics centre will open later in 2008. The company has begun to integrate the Terex Business System.
Then-president of Terex Cranes, Steve Filipov, said: “Our common goal is to process customer enquiries even faster and, within the context of product development, to pursue ideas for maximum safety and the simplest possible assembly and logistics.” Filipov has been promoted to a new position within Terex of developing markets and strategic accounts.
