Linden Comansa’s new Effi-Plus hoist drive system has been applied to the 24kW, 37kW, 50kW and 65kW hoist drives used in the firm’s LC1100, LC2100 and LCL series tower cranes.

Since January this year, the firm has been fitting the Effi-Plus system into its tower cranes as standard and claims to have increased compatible hoists’ lifting and lowering speeds by as much as 70% when lifting light loads.

When combined with Linden Comansa’s automated reeving change function, the Effi-Plus allows the crane operator to change the crane’s reeving mode and load-speed properties without leaving the cab.

The re-engineered drive control system uses an algorithm optimised to reduce the space and time required for hoist acceleration and deceleration while energy consumption remains the same.

The drive’s basic configuration remains the same with a low motor speed requiring only a simple electromagnetic braking system.

Linden Comansa has also increased the drum capacities for some of the hoist mechanisms compatible with the Effi-Plus to achieve higher lift heights, with the mechanism’s gearbox outside the drum for ease of maintenance.
