Load testing showed that the crane model has the strongest load chart in its class, says Manitowoc, with the first MLC300 off the production line being shipped to All’s Wisconsin branch, Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental.
The VPC centres the counterweight between its fully-retracted and fully-extended positions, with a rail system transferring the counterweight from back to front depending on the boom’s extension. This improves stability and reduces ground bearing pressure, as well as eliminating the need for carbody counterweights.
"It’s a truly remarkable crawler crane. We’re very excited about receiving the first of these new MLC300s," said Rick Mikut, crawler crane division manager at All. "With the advantages the VPC system brings, we can reduce mats by half, not to mention the savings realised with reduced job site prep. This is a dramatic reduction in number of loads needed to ship this machine to a job site."
