Grove has teamed up with Nelson Manufacturing of Ottawa, Canada, to introduce a trailing dolly system for the new RT 600E and RT 700E rough terrain cranes.
The CT-245 consists of a gooseneck and a two axle dolly which attach to the crane to form an alternative means of transport to a traditional low-boy trailer. The crane’s outriggers are raised to install the gooseneck and dolly, and assembly/disassembly is made easier by the self locating flanges on the crane mate. The crane is mounted to the dolly and gooseneck by air pins.
The CT-245 weighs less than a trailer and, as Grove points out, has the advantage of having a parking brake lock-out which allows all the wheels of the crane to rotate which can make driving easier over railway tracks, humped crossings and entrances to construction sites by eliminating trailer rub.
