Shanghai-based port crane manufacturer Zhenhua Port Machinery Company (ZPMC) secured a syndicated loan worth $200million late last year. The syndicate was led by Citigroup and HSBC but comprised a host of other banks. ZPMC said the cash injection would be used to expand its capacity to meet rising demand for products.

Finnish manufacturer KCI Konecranes has opened its second factory in China, which will double the company’s production capacity in the country. It has operated a hoist assembly factory in Shanghai since November 2002, producing wire rope hoists and components for cranes of lower lifting capacities. The new factory is adjacent to the hoist factory in Taopu, Putuo District at Futurity Island Industrial Park. It will produce heavy-duty lifting trolleys for special cranes and assembly of crane electrics.

Scientists at the Pyongyang University of Construction and Building Materials Production in North Korea have claimed that their horizontal jib tower crane design is now being manufactured at the Pyongyang Elevator Factory. Working with scientists at the Pyongyang Elevator Designing Institute, they are said to have designed each element of the crane according to the results of mock-up tests.

Düsseldorf, Germany-based mobile harbour crane supplier Gottwald Port Technology concluded the business year on 30th September 2005 with record figures. Turnover exceeded the previous year’s figure by nearly 22% with the company achieving a new record high at €237.3million. A five-year review shows a 100% organic growth in turnover.

Loader crane manufacturer Palfinger has launched the Paltronic 50 radio remote control system, which uses two mutually compatible remote controls from Scanreco and Hetronic.

Paltronic 50, which includes a check-back module as standard and at no extra cost, uses “Paldiag” crane software to allow operating levers to be assigned control functions according to individual requirements.
