Norwegian rental firm Nordic Crane Kynningsrud has acquired Swedish crane hire firm Krantjänst i Varberg, expanding its presence in the Halland region of Sweden’s west coast.

Based in the west coast city of Varberg, Krantjänst i Varberg has provided concrete trucks, truck cranes and mobile cranes, with lifting capacities ranging from 60t to 120t, for close to a century.

Nordic Crane Kynningsrud has purchased 100% of the company’s shares and appointed Morten Heli-Hansen as general manager starting today, January 1 2010.

Heli-Hansen will be responsible for bringing the new acquisition’s operations into line with those of the Norwegian firm’s premises in nearby Falkenberg.

The move further strengthens Nordic Crane Kynningsrud’s presence in Sweden, which is expected to be a significant source of work for crane firms during 2011 due to an abundance of planned onshore wind farm projects.
