Crane manufacturer Konecranes UK has installed a 90t Goliath crane at Nordic Terminal at Immingham in the UK.

The Intermodel Goliath crane has a 20m span carrying two 60t Konecranes LV open winches on a common trolley frame, specially designed to lift cassettes with steel coils with a total weight up to 90t. The two 60t hoists allow for the weight of a special handling device, eccentric loading and they have partial rotation for line up and the ability to trim the load keeping it level. A specially designed cassette lifter with telescopic movement for width, load and position sensing is included in the supply where it also has legs that swing up for storage when not being used for lifting cassettes of steel from rail cars.

Load summation between the winches is a built-in feature along with magnet and coil tong controls that enable the crane to work with components from other Konecranes already operational on the site. It is also suitable for normal lifting duties from special lifting points on an adapter frame at hook level which are able to be equipped with a container spreader frame and a full plate handling magnet beam in the future.
