The Shanghai Zenhuan Port Machinery Company (ZPMC) received $60m-worth of orders from North America in the six weeks to the middle of May, the Xinhua news agency has reported.

The orders include two Canadian contracts: a $13m order from the port of Halifax for two container cranes, and two gantry cranes; and a $14m order from the port of Vancouver for two large container cranes. ZPMC has maintained an annual 30% increase in output and expects sales of $170m this year, following sales of $130m in 1998 and $100m in 1997. Exports account for 80% of sales. Orders worth $60m have already been secured for 2000.
