“I already have orders in 2008,” said managing director Rod Abbott. “It was probably the best show we’ve ever done in terms of taking orders on the stand.”

The other show highlight was an order to supply four 100t capacity SC 100s, two for purchase, and two on a whopping three-year contract, to transship wind turbine blades at the Southampton, UK-based manufacturer Vestas. The second rental unit arrives in about five weeks. All come with 48m straight boom.

The other crane on the NRC stand was an SCX 400T tele-crawler. That model has gone into the NRC rental fleet. But NRC sold two others with 32m boom, to Farren Construction and JP Crane, which also ordered the 8t capacity ZX 160. The 400Ts will be delivered in July and September, and the ZX 160 in November.

Abbott says that he can deliver the cranes so quickly because he had already bought the cranes for stock, and was now simply allocating them to customers.
