According to a report in US publication Inside Health Policy, the announcement was made at a meeting of the construction advisory panel on 11 September. The magazine’s report says the official told the panel the report would likely be published in the Federal Register within two weeks.

The OMB’s website shows two recent meetings to discuss the new standard, both on 28 August. At the first meeting, which included members of the team that wrote the standard, a presentation was made that included a recent Washington State report on the cost benefit and ‘least burdensome’ analysis of mandatory crane operator certification. At the second meeting, a series of news clippings on recent crane accidents were presented.

The Association of General Contractors says that it expects the standard to be published at the end of this month, or the beginning of October.
