Salzburg, Austria-headquartered loader crane manufacturer Palfinger has announced a strategic partnership with Vadodara, India-based L&T Technology Services (LTTS) – a leading engineering and technology service provider.
According to Palfinger the collaboration marks a significant step forward in strengthening its global engineering capabilities, plus reinforces its commitment to the APAC region and, in particular, India.
In Pune, India, Palfinger and LTTS have set up a new Global Development Centre (GDC). The GDC will serve as a strategic innovation hub bringing together AI-powered simulation and embedded engineering with the aim of building future-ready solutions while achieving faster development and improved cost competitiveness.
Pune is a recognised hub for the automotive, software, and mechanical engineering industries. Under the agreement, LTTS will establish and operate the GDC on behalf of Palfinger, providing a dedicated team of engineers and experts who will support both local and global development initiatives. Starting with around 20 experts the plan is for the team to grow.
Palfinger says the investment gives it access to a wider talent pool for its global engineering teams, plus it enables it to focus on the specifics of the Indian market, which it has identified as a strategic growth market.
In addition to the new GDC the company is actively expanding its local partner network, optimising the supply chain and pursuing plans for setting up a local production facility.
The partnership was officially inaugurated during a ceremony in Pune on December 9, where the agreement was signed, laying the foundation for the long-term collaboration.
“By partnering with LTTS, we are significantly expanding our engineering capacity in a key market for future growth,” said Alexander Susanek, COO at Palfinger.
