Chinese rental company CLETC used a 220t Grove GMK6220-L (which is rated at 250 USt, and known as the GMK6250 in the US) to place a wind turbine on the island of Changdao in Shangdong Province.
Local energy company Shandong Changdao Wind Power Co Ltd commissioned the lift.
To make the lift, the crane had to undertake a 600 km (370 mile) journey that also included a two-hour ferry trip. The crane needed to lift the 38t generating unit into position using its full complement of 72m (236ft) boom and equipped with its full 70t (77 USt) of counterweight.
CLETC has four all-terrain cranes in its fleet, three of which are from Grove.
