Plastics manufacturer Montaplast of Morsbach, Germany has used a 220t, five-axle Liebherr LTM 1220-5.1 mobile crane from Gummersbach crane hire firm Ley to install an air conditioning system. Since the individual elements had to be lifted at working radii of up to 49m, but the crane could only be erected close to the 18m high building, the working radius of the 60m telescopic boom was extended by adding a 22m long folding fly jib. The Liebherr crane had up to 2.5t on its hook when placing the system components at the other end of the building’s roof.
Liebherr says its LTM 1220-5.1 offers the longest boom system in its class: “The 60m-long telescopic boom can be extended by means of a 7m-long extension and a 36m-long folding fly jib, and can thus reach hook heights of up to 103m.”
