Morris Material Handling has been awarded a contract to supply a 32t capacity log boom crane to Norbord Georgia Inc. for an expansion in Cordele, Georgia, USA. This is the fourth P&H log-handling crane for Norbord following its Guntown, MS crane and two cranes installed at its Jefferson, mill in Texas.

The new crane will be designed and built to CMAA Class F severe duty standards, and will be used to offload logs for storage in the yard or direct feed to the mill. The crane structure will weigh more than 215 US t, and will be 120ft tall and 180ft in overall length. The crane will travel on a 180 degrees diameter circular track. All components will be designed for 24 hours per day use in continuous severe duty service. The crane will be outfitted with staircases for ease of maintenance and improved safety.

This turnkey project includes on-site installation and a two-year maintenance package including crane inspections. The crane will be delivered, installed and operational by May 2006.
