Italian manufacturer Autogru PM, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, has this month begun production of five new crane series.

The new Series 3S and Series 5 loader cranes, which increase PM’s range of smaller cranes, and the new Lift Away series were all previewed at the SAIE show in Bologna last October.

Next month’s Samoter fair in Verona sees the first showing of the PM 12022S, the 36025+J63 and the 26024LC+J53. Details of these cranes can be found in our Samoter show preview, p39.

The new Series 3S model, which supercedes the old Series 3, uses some components from the Series 2 and Series 4 including the Series 4 base and column. Available with one and two hydraulic extensions, it has a maximum lifting moment of 2.8tm and can be mounted on vehicles of 3.5t GVW or more.

Changes from the old Series 3 include hexagonal section booms, designed for extra strength, new column and main boom cylinder, tiltable outrigger cylinders, a new hydraulic emergency device, replacing the previous electric one, and a higher oil tank capacity.

PM says that the Series 5 which has a maximum load moment of 5tm and is designed for vehicles of 6.5t GVW and above, “represents an interesting solution for loading and unloading operations particularly close to the crane column”.

The Series 5 has up to three hydraulic extensions, horizontal control positioning, standard tiltable outrigger cylinders and the option of mounting the moment control device.

Both the Series 3 and Series 5 have cable or radio remote control as an option.

The Lift Away series, comprising models PM 10012 and PM 10013 is designed for repair workshops or, mounted on light vehicles, for road recovery and car removal – a niche previously particularly targeted by Amco Veba. This crane is equipped with a strong rack and pinion slewing system, says PM, with a slewing torque of 1,800kgm. The 10012 has a horizontal outreach of 5.6m and a maximum load moment of 9.6tm, while the 10013 reaches 7.6m but has a lesser maximum lifting moment of 9.1tm.

The Lift Away crane has been designed with two supplementary controls for specific accessories such as rotators, pliers and buckets.
