The start of two major projects by the Hong Kong Housing Authority has proved a boost for Potain, whose local distributor Manta Engineering has supplied 32 tower cranes for the work.
The waterfront corridor, on land reclaimed for the new airport rail link, is providing a small boom for contractors and developers, says the French crane manufacturer.
Yau Lee Construction is building 13 tower blocks at Cheung Sha Wan West to provide 4,755 apartments and is using 10 Potain towers, including six MD 235As (which can lift 2.5t on the end of the 65m jib), two H25/14Cs and an F3/29B.
In Shatin, major contractor Paul Y has 22 Potain tower cranes on a second Housing Authority project, including seven purpose-ordered MD 235As and an MC 300.
