Manitowoc has unveiled the new 6t (6.6USt) Potain Igo T 99 telescopic self-erecting crane.

The manufacturer said the new model has improved capacity and reach compared to previous models, despite having the same compact footprint.

The Igo T 99 has a reach of 48m (157ft). It can work with six different jib lengths: 31.7m, 32m (in a folded jib position), 33.8m, 40m, 45m and 48m. This model offers a tip load of 1.5t when the jib is extended to 45m, and 1.2t with 48m of jib.

Three additional mast sections can be added to the crane, providing seven working heights that range from 20.5m–38.5m. “Its height-under-hook reaches 38.5m at horizontal, and when the jib is raised to 30°, it can reach 56.5m,” said Manitowoc.

The Igo T 99 has a total transport length of just 15.65m and height of only 4m when fitted with 80km/hr axles (49.7 mph). It is compatible with all current Potain Igo and Igo T transport axles.

When erected, it has a footprint of 4.5m x 4.5m and a new unfolding mechanism enables the crane to be erected in narrow spaces close to buildings. This mechanism requires less ground area because the crane deploys from the top after the base is already erected. “Levelling the Igo T 99 is as simple as adjusting a support screw, and the crane can be powered from both 480v  60hz and 400v 50hz power sources,” the manufacturer added.

With Potain Smart Set-Up software, operators can fully erect and decommission the crane using only its remote control.  The remote control can also be used for lifting functions, an Operator Control Function enables the pre-programming of three driving profiles.

The machine features High-Performance Lifting (HPL) technology, with operators able to select various speeds to match the operation. With a permanent four falls, Manitowoc said there is no need to change the rope reeving on the jobsite.

The newly designed electrical cabinet door opens from the top for maintenance access, providing handy weather proofing for technicians. The electrical cabinet also includes dedicated storage for the remote-control transmitter and battery charger.

Another feature of the Igo T 99 is the CraneSTAR Diag tool. For operators that want to operate from a cab, they can choose between an Ultra View or Ultra View Light Cab. These cabs utilise the Manitowoc Crane Control System (CCS).
