Potain is using the opportunity to carry out standard pre-production assessment of the 8t crane, to identify any design modifications or improvements that can be made before the series is put into full production.

Manitowoc’s production facility in Charlieu, France, handed the crane over to Danish Manitowoc dealer Ajos, at a ceremony in March this year

Ajos’ head of sales, Torben Block Nielsen, explained the choice of the Igo T 130 for the job was down to its quick set-up and good lifting capabilities, the crane having the highest capacity of the Potain range of self-erectors.

“We selected the Igo T 130 for this job as it has the capacity and speed to meet the lifting requirements on the job,” said Nielsen.

“The building design includes an expansive sloping roof that requires a number of heavy lifts. There is also a large, complex column system to support the roof.

“The Igo T 130’s large lift capacity and long jib will allow it to handle all lifts on this project, which is spread over a wide area.”

First launched at Bauma 2010, the crane uses Potain’s 33 LVF 20 Optima winch to reach lifting speeds of up to 65m/min, and has an under-hook height over 37m with a 50m reach.

Featuring frequency-controlled slewing and erecting mechanisms, the Igo T 130 can be set up and ready for work within four hours.

The crane’s controls are adjustable, for instance to suit precision placement requirements at each project, with an integrated remote provided for greater flexibility.

It is also transportable by trailer, the crane’s total length measuring 17.15m.

The Igo T 130 will be on site at the $275m project until mid-2012.
