The work is taking place at the protected historic monument, located at an inner-city job site, and involves the construction of seven buildings, the renovation of four buildings, and several being demolished.
Plans to build a new university and mixed-use development at the site are complicated by the protected architecture at the site, which dates back to 1825.
The cranes give complete coverage of the 15,000 sq m site, lifting general construction materials and equipment. Supplied by Potain partner Valente Assistance, three of the cranes are top-slewing units, including a 12t MD 238 A and two 10t MDT 268 A cranes, all using their full 67.5m jibs and erected to varying heights up to 60m. The fourth crane is a 4t Igo 50 self-erecting crane with 40m jib.
Jean-Pierre Chignard at contractor EAB said: "This job site requires the utmost care and attention — added to that is the fact we are in the middle of a busy city and working to a tight deadline.
"These Potain cranes are crucial to our success. We have used Potain tower cranes for many years and are confident in their ability to deliver to the high standards we demand. I am pleased to see the project is moving ahead on schedule."
Work is due to be completed in 2017.
