TURKISH heavylift and special transport contractor Hareket Nakliyat AS has completed a massive $200m project to deliver equipment for a new 200MW power station in Finland.
Produced by Warsila in Turku, Finland, 30,000m3 of project cargo – including 14 engines weighing 278t each and 14 generators weighing 70t each – were shipped on five vessels to the port of Samsun in Turkey.
Between Samsun port and the job site, the 278t engines were transported 15km on 20 axle lines of hydraulic trailer. Four bypass bridges were built and two existing bridges had to be supported to bear the weight of each load.
On site, Hareket Nakliyat was also responsible for coupling the engines with the 70t generators on their foundations.
