The SPMT 600 has a minimum height of 0.77m and a width of 2.28m, allowing it to fit into tight spaces. It can handle 67.5t per unit or 22.5t per axle line. Specific load requirements can be met by coupling up to four trailers side-by-side or end-to-end.
PSC say that the SPMT was engineered to provide unparalleled manoeuvrability in the heavy transport market. Each self-leveling wheel unit has a steering and lifting cylinder that seeks to optimise control and traction. Whilst the pivoting wheel assemblies allow the trailer to move forward and backward, as well as sideways. The trailer also features a self-sufficient power source, without power cords, allowing the unit to rotate 360° without changing its mid-point.
The SPMT’s wireless control system, Intellidrive, allows a PSC-certified operator to manoeuvre the trailer using a hand-held control unit. The company believes that this remote control functionality significantly enhances safety as the operator does not need to physically be on or in the transport device and can move to the best vantage point unobstructed.
