girders into place to provide structural support for a new commercial development at Paddington, central London.
The girders, fabricated by steelwork company William Hare, are designed to straddle the proposed Crossrail Link tunnel, which will emerge above ground at Paddington, and transfer the weight of the new buildings onto piers built either side of the tunnel.
The steel girders – which weigh up to 60t each, and are 15m long – were lifted by the AC2100 in four two-day operations.
Quigley claims to operate one of only two Demag AC2100 cranes in the UK.
