Rautarukki manufactures components at plants across Europe. It has said that its acquisition of Wolter is part of a strategy to increase its involvement in the lifting, handling and transportation equipment sector. Wolter manufactures crane booms and components, for mobile cranes and specialist heavy lifting windfarm cranes. These include the GTK 1100, which uses a Grove GMK upper, on top of a telescoping tower. Wolter expects to double its net sales in 2008, to EUR10m.Tommi Matomäki, president of Ruukki Engineering, said, “The acquisition is consistent with our growth strategy in the lifting, handling and transportation equipment sector. These new products form a platform on which to grow the business by drawing on Ruukki’s expertise in high strength steels, forming and welding. Wolter will give us an entry into a new product range and bring with it new high-profile customers.â€ïˆ€
