Crane operator Rolf Kuchner has the option of using proportional radio remote control to operate this Sennebogen 630M, a 30t telescopic crane with a 30m boom and all-wheel steering. The crane is owned by Klaus Hoch- und Tiefbau, which is here building a new fire station next to the runway at the new Terminal 2 building of Munich’s Franz-Josef-Strauss Airport. The remote control option, specified by the contractor, helps to meet the lifting restrictions imposed on the project, to avoid slewing with loads over the adjoining runway. And when there is no one available to sling the load, the remote control option means that Kuchner himself can do it. The 603M can lift 6t at a 10m radius on a 26.5m jib with outriggers fully extended. Extending the boom to its full 30m, it can lift 1.4t – the weight of a bucket of concrete – to a radius of 20m.
