Liebherr described the MK88 as a combination of the mobility of a classic mobile crane with the functional benefits of a tower crane. The German manufacturer said that as truck-mounted tower cranes are designed for use as a one-man crane, the crane could be driven, erected and operated by a single person. The crane has been designed to be erected and dismantled at the touch of a button, allowing it to be erected in around 15 minutes.
The MK88 bought by Riga Mainz has a radius of 45m and a hook height of 30m. Its standard luffed position of 45° enables the crane to reach a hook height of around 60m. The unit’s maximum load capacity is with up to 2.05t on the jib end. The crane can either be powered using a diesel or external power supply.
