The UK’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), which runs sea rescue operations to rescue distressed sailors, has bought a new 30t capacity Grove RT 530E rough terrain for its Inshore Lifeboat Centre at East Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
The crane is used for boat handling and general lifting duties around the yard, where the RNLI’s entire fleet of 320 inshore lifeboats are manufactured, maintained and repaired. The new crane, which replaces an old industrial mobile, was bought as part of a $3m upgrade to the facility.
