US rental company Maxim Crane Works has won a safety award from its home state of Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Secretary of the Department of Labor & Industry, Johnny Butler, awarded Maxim Crane Works the Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence during festivities of the Governor’s Occupational Safety & Health Conference in Hershey, PA, this week.

The award, commonly referred to as the Pennsafe Award, is presented annually to employers in Pennsylvania who reduce workplace injuries through labour-management cooperation.

In presenting the award to Maxim’s executive vice president of administration Andy Peters, Secretary Butler commented: ‘Such a prestigious honour is indicative of your powerful commitment to maintaining the very highest standards of excellence in business and service to the Pittsburgh Community. As a distinguished symbol of Pennsylvania pride, you have not only strived for the highest levels of achievement, but have provided the safest workplace possible for your employees at the same time. The worker-management cooperation you have exhibited in your workplace safety programs is a benchmark of excellence for all business to emulate.’
