The first contract for Sarens’ WA operation is the supply of cranes in support of the Sino Iron project at Cape Preston. Sarens said its WA branch has also recently been awarded the Collgar Wind Farm crane works for Vestas, starting mid-2010, where six additional cranes between 80t and 600t capacity will be used.
The move also signals a change in Sarens’ representation on the Australian market, with Sarens Group now represented by Sarens Australia directly and no longer by Universal Cranes. Alliances with partners in different states are in process, Sarens said.
O’Kane brings many years of local experience to the role of manager, having served as CEO of WA regional supplier Hercules for four years.
“Sarens intends to provide the market with innovative solutions in the handling of heavy material,” said a spokesperson for Sarens. “Whether in lifting or transport, the company’s in-house engineering expertise will fill a much needed void in the local marketplace.”
