The conference raised many issues, including delays to crane operator certification. “Any delays have an effect on our ability to supply energy to the world,” said Amer Al Sulaim, executive director of Industrial Services, Saudi Aramco. He added that unscheduled downtime could easily have an effect on the oil price. He stressed the need for cooperation among regional experts and called for more interactive dialogue among industry leaders.
Equipment ranging from small Bobcat skid-steer loaders, through a Grove 200-tonne mobile crane, was also displayed in an outdoor exhibition.
Khalid A. Falih, executive vice president, Saudi Aramco, expressed his delight in welcoming the delegates for two days of lively and stimulating debate.
The conference was organised by the Saudi Council of Engineers Lifting equipment Chapter and ITP.
