After 34 years of service, Scholpp Crane & Transport has put its so-called Crane 23 in the Historic Technical Museum in Sinsheim, near Heilbronn, Germany.

Company founder Alfred Scholpp bought the crane in February 1965 at the Chicago Roadshow, the forerunner of Conexpo, directly from John Grove and shipped it home to Germany. Scholpp believes that this crane was the first hydraulic telescoping model ever to come to Europe.

The 25t-capacity crane was originally equipped with a Cummins engine in the chassis and a GM two-stroke engine in the Grove upper. Both were later replaced with Mercedes Benz engines. The three-section telescoping boom has a maximum height under hook of 26m.
