The winner of the Cranes Today Silver Jubilee competition is Andries Slootmans of the Netherlands, who wins a bottle of Bushmills whiskey which will be presented to him at Bauma.

In the November 1997 issue of Cranes Today, which marked 25 years of publication, we asked what make of truck loader crane was featured on the cover of the 200th issue, published back in September 1990. The correct answer was Tadano, though many entrants went further and remembered the precise models: the TMZ series Super Z 300, 360 and 250.

Slootmans himself works for Tadano Faun Holland and describes himself as “a Tadano man for around 22 years”.

Four runners-up each receive a copy of the Cranes Today 1997 Handbook.

They are: Ron Kohner, Landmark Engineering Services, Roseville, Mn, USA; Juan Masllorens, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Yousef Mousa, Yousef Mousa Crane Company, Amman, Jordan; and Sheila Burnett, Lincolnshire Crane Hire, Skegness, UK.

Anyone still without the 1997 Handbook, which gives comprehensive details of every crane, ancillary product, manufacturer and service provider in the industry, can obtain a copy for £59.95 (or $120). For an order form tel: (+44) 01322 276300, or fax: (+44) 1322 276487. Entry forms for a free listing in the 1998 Handbook are now available on the same numbers.
