The pair announced the agreement to work together at Intermat in Paris at the end of April, but commercial and technical collaborative agreements have now eased, SMIE said.

Jean-Louis Olivier, president of SMIE, said: “There could have been significant benefits had we been able to get the two systems to work together.

“However, after several years of attempts and evaluating various solutions, it was not possible to reach a common point of view on technical and strategic issues mainly. That is why we have decided to discontinue collaboration.”

SMIE said it will now focus on research and development, including advancing its existing systems and developing additional capacities in anti-collision and zoning systems.

“There is so much more we can do, and the constant flow of new technology is opening up some very exciting possibilities,” added Olivier.
