SMIE, the French manufacturer of tower crane anti-collision and zoning systems, has taken 100% ownership of its sole UK agent, Cranesafe. Cranesafe, under managing director Tim Rowley, claims to be UK market leader in tower crane safety equipment, including anemometers.

‘We have been developing, promoting and marketing the SMIE range for the past 12 years,’ said Rowley, ‘and have expanded rapidly in the past two years in particular. Becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of SMIE allows us to invest in training and other facilities to accommodate the growing demand for both installations and customer service back-up.’

Cranesafe has also won its first business outside of the UK and Ireland, renting a SMIE AC30 anti-collision system to a developer on the island of Jersey. Dandera is building a big residential and commercial complex, Century Buildings, in the port of St Helier.
