Zoomlion has awarded auto parts manufacturer Ruili Group Ruian Auto Parts Company a ‘Class A supplier’ rating, allowing the firm to supply 70% of the manufacturers truck crane braking systems.

Ruili Group was founded in 1987 as a Chinese-owned manufacturer before a 90:10 joint venture set up between Fairford Holdings and supplier SORL Auto Parts, respectively, acquired it.

In 2011, SORL was named as Zoomlion’s supplier of air processing unit technology for truck crane braking systems, but quickly progressed to supply the complete braking system for Zoomlion truck cranes.

As the only brake systems and component supplier used by Zoomlion to achieve Class A supplier rating, throughout 2012 the firm expects to receive much larger orders and preferential payment terms as a result of strategic cooperation.

SORL chief operating officer Tao Baojian said: “We are very pleased to win another vote of confidence from Zoomlion, a leading construction vehicle OEM in China. This award acknowledges our excellent product quality and customer service, and our advanced management skills.

“Winning this title not only enables our current braking products to further penetrate Zoomlion’s product portfolio, but also increases the chance of our upcoming new products to enter Zoomlion’s component shopping list. We continue to expand our presence in the construction and engineering vehicle market.”

SORL is headquartered in Ruian City, Wenzhou, in Zheijang province, China, and derives roughly 76% of its profits from sales of commercial air brake systems to Chinese OEMs and distributors. It reportedly has the largest market share in the commercial vehicles brake systems segment in China.

The remainder of SORL’s sales come from its international sales centres in the USA, the UAE and India. Currently the company holds a market value of around $47m.
