The boom was located 16m above the deck required multiple support structures and lifting framework because of its length, totalling a height of 21m from deck level.
The first stage of project was to remove the old boom in two sections, before the new boom was brought on board and installed in a reversal of the sa,e procedure. Four load cells were used to simultaneously record the load reactions in order not to exceed the SWL limit of lifting points.
Project manager Prasad PP, said: "In a nutshell, this was a complex lifting activity performed entirely using a custom-designed temporary framework of large proportions."
