Speedy Hire, a UK tool hire group, has acquired lifting equipment specialist Lloyds British Hire for £3.1m ($5.9m). Speedy said that this made its Speedy Lifting division the UK’s largest provider of lifting and materials handling equipment, with a new total of 30 outlets.
Lloyds British Hire’s equipment includes high tonnage modular beams, high tonnage cylinders, air hoists, winches, and heavy duty cylinders and rams.
Speedy Lifting managing director Mark Whitworth said: ‘By combining the additional product range and experience of Lloyds with the customer service and logistical expertise of Speedy, we now have the resources to deliver what we believe is the next generation in lifting hire services for our customers.
‘For Speedy Lifting, it underlines our position as the market leader and aids us in expanding our customer base, accelerating our expansion into non-construction markets as well as increasing our geographic coverage to further enhance our service to customers.’
