Built-in non-contact spool position sensors are now available on HydraForce PD series hydraulic valves. The pilot operated directional valves incorporate a Hall-effect sensor to verify whether the valve is in neutral or in an operating position. Such information is used by safety monitoring devices and electronic control systems.

The sensing system is claimed to be more economical and more reliable than traditional mechanical switches which fail through wear and from contact with full hydraulic system pressure.

Output from the sensor is a low current signal and the DC supply voltage range is from 9V to 28V. Standard termination is a 12mm circular connector with or without a leadwire attachment. The output signal for the logic function can be sinking or sourcing at up to 25mA to ensure system compatibility.
