Finland’s Port of Rauma, which expects to handle 130,000 TEU of forestry products this year, has ordered a Gottwald HMK 300E mobile harbour crane. The crane has been specified with a CH 6600 TA FT spreader from VDL Smits Spreader Systems in the Netherlands.
The port bought one of these spreaders last year, which was the first twin lift spreader in Finland, and managed to increase the number of container moves per hour by 30%.
The fixed twin spreader has both horizontal and traversal adjustment. This means that even with two fully loaded containers the spreader can be adjusted to the same angle as the deck when the ship lists.
