US crane rental company Stevenson Crane Service, based in Illinois, has begun to add Manitowoc lattice boom crawler cranes to its fleet of wheeled hydraulic machines.
The move into crawlers comes just a year or so after an initial expansion from truck and all terrain cranes to rough terrains.
So far, Stevenson has bought a 90t capacity Manitowoc 222 and a 250t capacity Manitowoc 999 crane. The intention is to add more in due course. “We believe in going with the best and the Manitowoc lattice boom crawler crane is just that,” said Stevenson president Donna Stevenson.
Just like its truck cranes, ATs and RTs, Stevenson rents out its crawler cranes fully manned.
Stevenson has also been buying 30t and 50t rough terrain cranes from Grove and Terex during 2003. It is also a dealer for Terex boom trucks, Manitou telescopic handlers and the Herkules portable crane.
Since its foundation in 1989, Stevenson has grown to be one of the largest crane rental companies in the Illinois region.
