AmQuip Crane Rental has appointed Charles Snyder, previously executive vice president of fleet operations at Sunbelt Rentals, as its new president and CEO.

The new appointment comes six months after former AmQuip president and CEO Frank Bardonaro left the firm to eventually join Terex Cranes as its managing director and vice president.

Prior to his membership of Sunbelt’s board of directors and senior executive positions held at the company, Snyder was the chief operating officer at NationsRent and president of Ameco, a subsidiary of engineering firm Fluor.

Commenting on Snyder’s experience at senior management level, AmQuip’s chair of the board of managers, Richard Bard, said: “Charles is a seasoned executive with over thirty-five years of domestic and international experience covering all aspects of equipment sales, rentals, product support, logistics and general management. He brings leadership skills that will help us build upon AmQuip’s successes.”

AmQuip director Yuki Narula, who also represents the company’s largest shareholder, Altpoint Capital Partners, added: “Charles has a unique background that includes both fleet management and sales and marketing experience, and he has also managed a sizeable crane fleet earlier in his career.

“We believe that he is the ideal new leader of our management team.”

Snyder will also sit on the board of managers at AmQuip.
