Graham & White Instruments has developed a tilt safety system for use on cranes and access platforms. The SBL1S has no moving parts and is designed to provide a dual channel operating system on safety -critical machines such as cranes.

The SBL1S has a variable measuring range starting at +/-1° going up to +/-80°. The tilt system is made up of two independent, solid state, analogue tilt sensors inside a diecast metal enclosure. Each of the two sensors, channel 1 and channel 2, measures the same axis angle. Channel 1 has two Siemens SR2A311 non-stick safety relays which operate in both positive and negative tilts as well as a 0-5V output, proportional to the working range of the sensor. Channel 2 has a 4-20mA current loop, which is also proportional with the sensor’s working range.
