Most of this growth was driven by construction crane sales in Europe and North America, which rose 45% to JPY 17.9bn (USD 157m). The company reported that in Japan, sales of truck loader cranes declined as initial replacement demand for trucks that meet diesel emission regulations has largely been met, however, strong replacement demand for construction cranes helped to increase sales 9.2% to JPY 20bn compared with the same period in the previous fiscal year.
In the company’s fiscal year to March 31, its sales were JPY 145bn (USD 1.27bn). Net income reached JPY 7.7bn (USD 67.5m).
The outlook of business performance for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008 is based on the production enhancement plan for construction cranes, and we are continuing to make strides in pursuing group-wide efforts. It has stuck with its May forecast for sales to reach JPY 162bn (USD 1.42bn), and net income to reach JPY 11.1bn (USD 97m), by March 31.
