Tadano ATF80-4 All-Terrain crane for Pacific Coast Group of Australia

Delivered by Australia’s specialist crane retailer James Equipment, the new 80 tonne powerhouse was a welcome sight for Pacific Coast Group Director George Clarke taking delivery of the all-terrain crane on an already special occasion.

“Our new crane was delivered on my birthday and had quite an initiation with a 40 tonne lifting project soon after,” said George Clarke.

“The new all-terrain is our first Tadano crane and will work alongside our existing 45 tonne Kato. The 80 tonne Tadano is a universal size and was chosen for its reach capability and impressive lift chart.”

Pacific Coast Group began serving the heavy construction needs of industry back in 1984 building a commanding reputation in steel, aluminium and stainless steel fabrication. Major general engineering and structural steel projects for the sugar industry, power stations, mines and processing plants ensued to give the Pacific Coast Group an enviable track record today for service, proficiency, safety and versatility.

The division of companies within the Pacific Coast Group also covers in-house CAD design engineering, shutdowns and maintenance contracting plus general ship repairs, overhaul and re-fit specialists.

With little time between jobs, the ATF80-4 is currently working on a maintenance job at a Nickel mine in Townsville.

“The extra reach of the Tadano is a real plus on the 30m tall silos at the mine,” said George Clarke.

“Our drivers are already giving good feedback. The crane certainly arrives with good credentials boasting the Crane of the Year sticker on the front. I have known Chalky White and Peter Shelton from James Equipment for a long time and was confident in their recommendation of the new All-Terrain range from Tadano.”

Japanese and German engineering unite within the Tadano ATF80-4 with a 125kW Mercedes-Benz 4 cylinder water cooled EPA 2 diesel engine powering the 6 section box type 48.5m boom onboard the torsion-resistant superstructure cab. Strength defines the ATF carrier with ZF-AS-Tronic 14 gear transmission, 4 point hydraulic outriggers, Hydro-pneumatic levelling suspension all powered by a 315kW 6 cylinder Mercedes-Benz diesel engine.

Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry with locations right across Australia, James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, and Kobelco.

Tadano ATF65G-4 for Crane Hotline of Australia

Queensland-based crane hire and steel fabrication company Crane Hotline has taken delivery of the first 65 tonne Tadano ATF crane to arrive in Australia, delivered by crane specialists James Equipment. Crane Hotline is a crane business subsidiary of long established family owned company JA Evans and Co and operates a fleet of hire cranes for local industries around the Ipswich region in Queensland.

The new Tadano ATF65G-4 has been in service for only 1 month and has already undertaken work on almost every local infrastructure project site in Ipswich. While the initial preference of the customer was a 100 tonne crane, the Tadano All-Terrain design and lift capacity proved difficult to overlook. The new 65 tonne Tadano arrived with big expectations to fulfil with new owner Perry Evans already amazed at the capabilities of his new recruit.

“We were initially looking at a 100 tonne crane that I thought would cover our general lifting requirements from 50 tonne to 80 tonne loads,” said Perry Evans, Managing Director of Crane Hotline.

“However, when David ‘Chalky’ White from James Equipment came up and talked to us about the Tadano 65 tonne ATF, the lift chart capacity and manoeuvrability of the ATF caught our eye. The Tadano ATF can be used as a stand alone crane for 50 tonne lifts and has a comparable lift chart with most of the 80 tonne cranes on the market in its road going (taxi) configuration. We can cover all bases with just one crane.”

Crane Hotline is already familiar with the Tadano brand with a 50 tonne TG-500E hydraulic truck mounted crane already in service. The new Tadano ATF65G-4 also compliments a fleet of 8 Franna pick and carry cranes and is already proving a solid investment in the first month of service.
