The ship was initially lifted by the crane, in tandem with another machine, onto a low-bed trailer at the Danube port of Ennsdorf, before being transported to Lake Hallstatt. The 71t, 27m-long ship was then launched onto the lake, using just the Terex crane.

The crane was particularly suitable for the project due to its compact design, and its power, said crane operator Christian Wolkerstorfer: "Ideally, you’d want to lift this kind of load using a tandem lift, as we did when loading the hull on the lowbed trailer.

But that was out of the question when unloading it due to the lack of space. In other words, our AC 500-2 was on its own. However, the crane is powerful enough to handle this type of lift even without assistance."

The AC 500-2 was fitted with a 37.9m-long main boom and 140t of counterweight for the initial load onto the trailer, where it worked in tandem with another crane.

To unload the ship, Prangl used a main boom length of 19.3m, a 30m luffing fly jib, and 180t of counterweight.
