Terex Group has decided not to exhibit at the Intermat show in Paris next May and has cancelled the 3,600m2 of floor space that it had booked.

Terex was to have been one of the biggest exhibitors of lifting and construction equipment at the show, which is next year’s largest international plant show. Though Terex also decided against exhibiting at Bauma ’98 in Munich, it had a strong presence at Conexpo in Las Vegas this year and had promised to make a similar splash in Paris. Intermat is the home show for Terex PPM, France’s only major manufacturer of mobile cranes.

Terex Lifting vice-president Steve Filipov explained that the money saved, likely to be $1m or more, would be used instead to reinforce Terex’s pricing strategy, passing the savings on to the crane manufacturer’s customers.

He added that PPM would organise its own promotional event sometime during the year.
