Maxim Crane Works, a firm with 35 locations throughout the US, was the subcontractor for crane services to general contractor Turner construction under a full turnkey package for work on The Good Samaritan Medical Office Building.
The eight-storey building lay within 100ft of a congested road, which required Maxim to enforce traffic control during a two-day period for assembly of the crane.
For a project requiring rapid set up and disassembly, a newly manufactured 32t SK 575 tower crane was well adapted, Terex said.
For work on the project, the SK 575 was arranged in 2-part line configuration to a hook height of 59m with 65m of jib length.
Matt Hyden, operations manager, tower cranes, at Maxim Crane Works praised Terex for its speed and reliability. “For us, the question of schedule had grown twofold; in addition to the existing planning requirements, the crane was going to be new.
“Consequently, we needed to count on Terex Cranes to prepare the crane and ensure delivery of the complete upper-works ready to ship within just 45 days of our customer’s order,” Hyden said. “We would then be able to assemble and test-run all functions prior to operation and load-test, as is the normal procedure for any brand new machine – in this case directly on the jobsite. Thanks to the responsive support of the Terex Cranes team, the entire process went precisely as planned.”
