Terex is using the CTT331-16 flat top tower crane to construct testing components. It has a 16t lifting capacity and a maximum lift height of 92.6m.
The CTT331-16 is set up with a 60m jib and 78m free standing height, designated by Terex as R2 configuration, and is outfitted with a telescopic cage and 29t counterweight.
Terex won the bid issued by the Indian Power Ministry. It will be running the project out of its new Pune, India, offices, set up just 2 months ago.
The new facility lies 12 hours to the north of Bangalore and contains 914 sq m of offices, plus a 610 sq m spare parts centre.
CPRI chose to invest in a higher-tech crane than originally planned, owing to the higher levels of performance required for constructing technical components for testing power strength and stability.
B N Dinesh Kumar, joint director, CPRI, Bangalore, said, “Working with Terex Cranes India, has been a good experience and everything has run according to schedule. Terex Cranes India, provided us with the high level of responsiveness, expertise, and support that we needed throughout the process.”
