The booms are freely mounted onto the crawler carrier in order to achieve full on-site mobility. The model is maneuverable while carrying a load and is, therefore, what Terex Demag is calling “a true mobile crane.”

The new crawler is based on the successful CC 8800 model (1,250t lifting capacity) of which 11 machines have already been sold. Terex Demag achieved the increase to more than 3,200t through its unique twin boom system design. The CC 8800’s boom components have been interconnected by the system to form a twin boom.

Al Jaber Heavy Lift & Transport LLC based in Abu Dhabi, UAE has already closed a deal for the crane, even before the official market launch.

Al Jaber is a subsidiary of the Al Jaber Group of companies. The subsidiary specialises in heavy crane and transport operations primarily in oil, gas and petrochemical sectors.

The CC 8800 TWIN, to be delivered in 2007, will be used in the construction of large scale projects, especially the erection of vessels and reactors. Al Jaber already operates a complete fleet of Demag lattice boom cranes ranging from 250 to 1,250t and has recently added an AC 160-1, an AC 250-1 and an AC-500-2 to its fleet of some 250 mobile cranes.

The powerful Quadro drive with its self-cleaning drive train geometry provides optimum traction force. Short setup times are achieved by the proven, hydraulically adjustable telescoping system for the counterweight carrier and tray.

For most economical transport mobility the transport width is less than 3.5m. The unique, modular hook block design allows for assembly of options ranging from 350 to 1,250t for each block.

Safe operation is ensured by a sophisticated camera-system. An onboard AC power generation for floodlights or air-conditioning provides an additional feature.
