Krandienst Werner used the Terex AC 200-1, AC 100/4 and AC 30 City to lift two 2.5t sculptures, representing German philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.
Karl Marx’s iron monument stood 2.77m high and Engels stood 3.07m high.
Behind these statues, Cuban marble sculptures weighing 12.5t stood ready to be lifted by the AC 200-1.
While different cranes moved different sculptures, none of the lifts took more than two hours.
“While driving to the jobsite, we ran into a police traffic control point with our Terex AC 100-4. Knowing that the crane was in excellent condition and featured a compact design suited for use on city roads gave us full peace of mind,” said Krandienst Werner General Manager, Detlef Werner.
The AC100-4, complete with five-section boom, was used to lift the statues over the tops of trees that circled the monument at a 50m radius.
“Thanks to its four steering axles, we were able to easily maneuver the crane through the concrete jungle of Berlin and get to the Marx-Engels-Forum without a hitch,” said Kurt Grüner, an operator for Krandienst Werner.
The monument was reassembled on a spot 80m away, a process which Werner said went smoothly.
